Security forces have arrested at least seven Kurdish citizens – Jamal Rostami, Saman Khosravi, Hawre Parvazeh, Arya Maroufi, Zanyar Asvar, Peshtiwan Tatar, and Saro Roshani – in Marivan and Kamyaran in Kurdistan Province and taken them to undisclosed locations.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that security forces surrounded the village of Ney in Marivan with several military vehicles in the early hours of 6 August, raiding residents’ homes and arresting Khosravi, Parvazeh, Maroufi, Asvar, Tatar and Roshani.
The six men were arrested without warrants, and no information has since been obtained about their fate or whereabouts.
Two days earlier, in the early hours of 4 August, Ministry of Intelligence forces raided an orchard belonging to Jamal Rostami, a resident of Shahini village in Kamyaran and a founding member of a local charity organisation, and arrested him without a warrant.
At around 14:00 (local time) the same day, the forces returned to the orchard, intimidated Rostami’s family and searched the premises.
Two other founding members of the charity, Esmaeil Khateri and Foad Shadi, had previously been arrested by security forces on 24 and 25 July respectively. No information has since been obtained about their fate or whereabouts.
