Three kolbars, Goran Khedri, Hassan Mostafazadeh and Bakhtiyar Amini, have been severely injured in recent days by Iranian border guards’ gunfire and a landmine explosion in the Hangeh-ye Zhal border area of Baneh, Kurdistan Province.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that on 5 August, border guards opened fire on a group of kolbars in the Hangeh-ye Zhal border area, severely wounding Mostafazadeh, a kolbar from Rabat in Sardasht County, West Azerbaijan Province.
Mostafazadeh was taken to Salahaddin Ayoubi Hospital in Baneh before being transferred to a medical facility in Tabriz, East Azerbaijan Province, due to the severity of his injuries.
On the same day and in the same border area, Amini, a kolbar from the village of Do Sineh in Baneh and father of three, was severely injured in the leg in a landmine explosion.
A day earlier, on the evening of 4 August, Khedri, a father of one from the village of Neyzeh Rud in Baneh, was wounded by border guards’ gunfire in the Hangeh-ye Zhal border area.
According to figures compiled by KHRN, over the past several weeks, border guards have shot dead at least five kolbars in the border areas of Nowsud, Marivan and Sarvabad, as well as two other civilians, including an 11-year-old child, in the border areas of Sarvabad and Khoy.
