Rahim Shilani and Azad Rasouli-Fard, two Kurdish men from Bukan, West Azerbaijan Province, have each been sentenced to two years in prison by Branch Two of Bukan Criminal Court for “buying and selling Starlink satellite equipment”.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that the two men were notified of the sentences in recent days.
Ministry of Intelligence forces arrested Shilani and Rasouli-Fard in Bukan on 30 January and transferred them to the ministry’s detention facility in Orumiyeh, the provincial capital.
They were held there for 52 days, during which they were denied access to legal counsel and family visits and subjected to physical and psychological torture.
After their interrogations ended, the two men were transferred to Bukan Prison and released on bail of 30 billion rials in mid-April.
