Iranian border guards have shot dead Kurdish tradesman Yousef Mamehpour in the border areas of Sardasht, West Azerbaijan Province.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that in the early hours of 20 August, border guards opened fire at close range and without prior warning on a group of tradesmen transporting livestock to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq in the Barda Sepiyan border area.
Mamehpour, from Sardasht, was killed at the scene.
Another tradesman, whose identity remains unknown, was reportedly seriously wounded.
Following the shooting, the border guards confiscated the tradesmen’s sheep.
