Kurdish women Neda Dadejani and Setayesh Sarabi have been sent to Sanandaj Women’s Prison after their flogging sentences were carried out.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that the two women, both from Qorveh, Kurdistan Province, were arrested on 22 August after they were summoned to the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in Qorveh to begin serving their sentences.
They were transferred to Sanandaj Women’s Prison, also known as the Juvenile Detention Centre, following the implementation of their flogging sentences.
After several days in quarantine, the political prisoners were moved to the prison’s general ward, where they remain.
The court in Qorveh has not approved their requests to serve their prison sentences under electronic monitoring.
Sarabi and Dadejani, an artist and fashion designer, were previously arrested by security forces during the January 2026 protests in Qorveh and provisionally released on bail after several days.
Branch 102 of the Criminal Court Two in Qorveh subsequently sentenced each woman to one year’s imprisonment, 31 lashes and two years’ exile to Nikshahr in Sistan and Baluchestan Province on charges of “disturbing public peace and order”.
In a separate case, Branch One of the Islamic Revolutionary Court in Qorveh sentenced each woman to two years’ imprisonment on charges of “assembly and collusion against national security”.
