Abolfazl Rostami and Erfan Moradi Dangi, two Kurdish men from Qasr-e Shirin, Kermanshah Province, have each been sentenced to five years’ imprisonment in connection with the January 2026 protests.
The Islamic Revolutionary Court of Qasr-e Shirin sentenced the men on the charge of “assembly and collusion to commit crimes against national security”.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Intelligence Organisation forces arrested Rostami and Moradi Dangi in Qasr-e Shirin on 28 May in connection with the protests.
After being held and subjected to physical and psychological torture for several weeks at the agency’s detention facility in Kermanshah, they were provisionally released on bail.
Their trial was held in August at Branch One of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Qasr-e Shirin. The sentences were communicated to them in recent days.
