Jalal Khoda-Moradi and Mohsen Hossein-Panahi, two Kurdish men from Sanandaj, Kurdistan Province, have been arrested and taken to an undisclosed location after being summoned over a planned general strike.

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that the Public Places Supervision Department in Sanandaj summoned the two men by telephone on 13 September in connection with a general strike by shopkeepers and market traders planned for 16 September.

Khoda-Moradi and Hossein-Panahi were arrested for unknown reasons on 14 September after reporting to the department.

Their whereabouts and the charges brought against them remain unknown.

Khoda-Moradi has been repeatedly summoned and arrested by security agencies in recent years over his civil rights activities.

The Coalition of Political Forces of Iranian Kurdistan called for the general strike to mark the fourth anniversary of the state killing of Jina Amini and the “Women, Life, Freedom” uprising.
