The Intelligence Organisation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has arrested a Kurdish couple, Hesam Abdinia and Arezou Dashti, in Kamyaran, Kurdistan Province. Dashti was released after one day, but Abdinia remains in detention.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that IRGC intelligence forces raided the couple’s family home in Kamyaran on 17 September and arrested them.
Both were taken to the IRGC intelligence detention facility in the city. Following his wife’s release, Abdinia remains held there under a temporary detention order.
Their arrests, along with those of several other residents of Kamyaran, are reportedly linked to the general strike by shopkeepers and market traders on 16 September, which marked the fourth anniversary of Jina Amini’s death and the start of the “Women, Life, Freedom” uprising.
