Ministry of Intelligence agents arrested Kurdish nurse Foad Ghaderi on 21 September as he travelled from Sanandaj to Javanrud.
During several days of interrogation at the ministry’s detention facility in Javanrud, he was subjected to severe physical and psychological torture in an attempt to force him to confess. He was then transferred to Dizel Abad Prison in Kermanshah.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that Ghaderi, from the village of Sarrud-e Olya in Javanrud, worked as a nurse at a private medical centre in Sanandaj. Agents arrested him at the Naleh Shekineh mountain pass on the road between Kamyaran and Ravansar and took him to the Javanrud detention facility.
After his arrest, Ministry of Intelligence agents raided his family home and took away some of his personal belongings.
Since his arrest, he has been denied access to a lawyer and visits from his family. The charges against him remain unknown.
