Iranian security forces have arrested 11 civilians since protests broke out in Abdanan, Ilam province, on 1 February against the arrest and issuance of prison sentences for two civilians.
The names of the 11 arrested civilians confirmed so far are Saman Moradivandan, Mohammad Cheraghi, Mohammad Gholami, Majid Mirzaei, Ali Safar Mir-Veysi, Amir Hossein Namdaripour, Mojtaba Saeidi, Abdollah Jami, Zabihollah Jamadi, and Sasan Mohammad-Vali.
On the evening of 1 February, a group of civilians in Abdanan took to the streets to protest against the arrest and issuance of prison sentences for civilians Sajjad Moradivandan and Ayat Arefinia.
Following the protests, security forces attacked the family homes of several political activists residing abroad, and threatened and summoned some of their family members to put pressure on the activists.
Security forces fired tear gas and pellet shots at the family homes of activists Pazhar Maleki and Shorash Nazari under the pretext that they had taken part in publishing the call for the protests.
Also, the elderly mother of Isa Baziar has been summoned to the office of the Ministry of Intelligence in Abdanan.
