Iranian security forces arrested Kurdish filmmaker Sadegh Samerei in Kermanshah on 7 March.

Security agents raided the filmmaker’s home and arrested him while confiscating some of his personal belongings, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned.

Samerei is a well-known cultural activist who has written many poetry and fiction books in the field of Southern Kurdish literature.

He was also engaged in filmmaking professionally in recent years.

“Benmeli”, “The genius who didn’t know horse riding” and “On a long hill, I’m a lonely tree” are among his cinematic works.
