Security forces arrested at least six civilians in Piranshahr, West Azerbaijan province, in north-western Iran, on 11 June and took them to an undisclosed location.

The identities of the detained civilians are: Khezr Mohammadpour, Abdorrahman Gheytaran, Sadraddin Gheytaran, Mohammad Mahmoud Feqh, Habib Khoshnoud and Jamal Rasoulzadeh.

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that security forces raided the family home of brothers Abdorrahman Gheytaran and Sadradding Gheytaran in the village of Kani Molla in Piranshahr and detained them, beating the two brothers.

At the same time, two other civilians from the same village, Habib Khoshnoud and Khezr Mohammadpour, were arrested in the village of Oshnuzang in Piranshahr.

Security forces also arrested Mohammad Mahmoud Feqh and Jamal Rasoulzadeh in the village of Khurinj in Piranshahr.

These civilians were arrested without a warrant and there is no information as to the reason for their arrest or their whereabouts.

According to statistics compiled by KHRN, at least 42 Kurdish civilians and activists were arrested by security forces on political charges in the provinces of West Azerbaijan, Kurdistan, Kermanshah and Ilam in May.
