Kurdish political and social activist Pedram Moeini, who was arrested by security forces at his office in Baneh, Kurdistan province, on 11 June, informed his family in a brief telephone call on 13 June that he had been taken to the Ministry of Intelligence detention centre in Sanandaj, Kurdistan province.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that the activist was arrested without a warrant and that security agents searched his workplace and confiscated some of his personal belongings, including his mobile phone, at the time of his arrest.
Moeini, a PhD candidate in political sociology in Tehran, was previously arrested in Tehran on 24 September during anti-government protests following the state murder of Kurdish woman Jina Mahsa Amini.
After a month of detention in wards 209 and 240 of Tehran’s Evin prison, he was provisionally released on bail of 10 billion Iranian rials – nearly 20,000 USD.
