Security forces arrested civilian Aref Advai in the village of Selin in the Hawraman region of Sarvabad, Kurdistan province, on 13 June and took him to an undisclosed location.

Plainclothes officers reportedly went to Selin village and arrested Advai without a warrant.

The civilian’s arrest comes at a time when the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is bombing Mount Kusalan between the villages of Selin and Razab, and using troops and construction machinery to build a new road and base in the area.

In recent years, the Ministry of Intelligence and the IRGC’s Intelligence Organisation have put pressure on villagers under the pretext of the village’s alleged “collaboration” with Kurdish opposition forces.

So far, more than 20 civilians from this village have been summoned, interrogated and detained by the security services.
