Iranian security forces have detained two Kurdish civilians, Sorayya Gheytaran and Shahla Choupani, in the north-western cities of Piranshahr and Saqqez in recent days.

Security forces conducted a raid on Gheytaran’s home in the village of Kani Mala in Piranshahr, West Azerbaijan province, on 26 June, arresting her without a judicial warrant and transferring her to an undisclosed location, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned.

Gheytaran’s brothers, Abdolrahman Gheytaran and Sadraddin Gheytaran, were also arrested by security forces on 11 June. Their current whereabouts are unknown.

Separately, Choupani, from Saqqez in Kurdistan province, was arrested today by security forces at her home without a warrant and taken to an undisclosed location.
