Iranian security forces arrested Kurdish artist and former political prisoner Sasan Chamanara and his sister, Parastoo Chamanara, a university employee, on 16 March in Ilam, a local source said.
The source told the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) that the security forces raided Parastoo Chamanara’s home, detained both siblings and transferred them to an undisclosed location. The siblings had previously been warned over Sasan Chamanara’s online activities.
Sasan Chamanara was previously arrested multiple times, including during the anti-government protests of the “Woman, Life and Freedom” uprising. He was previously sentenced by the Islamic Revolutionary Court to a combination of prison terms, fines and restrictions on public and online activities.
