Death row prisoners Jafar Mohammadpour and Ghobad Farhadpour were executed on 9 June in Orumiyeh Central Prison, in north-west Iran, on drug-related charges.

On 8 June, the two prisoners were transferred to solitary confinement for execution, along with a woman prisoner, Parvin Mousavi.

Mohammadpour and Farhadpour were executed on the morning of 9 June, while Mousavi’s execution was temporarily halted for unknown reasons.

Mohammadpour, 41, a father of two from Sardasht, West Azerbaijan province, was arrested about three years ago and sentenced to death on drug-related charges.

Farhadpour, from Kermanshah, Kermanshah province, was also arrested and sentenced to death on the same charges several years ago.
