Mohyedin Abdullahi and Hossein Palani Jafi, two prisoners from Sarpol-e Zahab, Kermanshah Province, who were arrested in 2017 in connection with a clash between IRGC forces and members of a group affiliated with ISIS in the Bemo mountains of Salas-e Babajani, have been secretly executed at Kermanshah Central Prison (Dizelabad).
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that the two prisoners were executed in the early hours of Tuesday, July 14, 2026, secretly and without being granted the right to a final visit with their families.
On July 14, Mizan News Agency, the official outlet of the Iranian Judiciary, reported the execution of these two prisoners, citing their charge as “armed uprising against the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
The KHRN had previously warned of the risk of their execution in a report published on June 3, 2026, regarding the high-security ward of Kermanshah Central Prison, where the two were being held.
Mohyedin Abdullahi and Hossein Palani Jafi were arrested in February 2018 following a clash between individuals affiliated with ISIS and the IRGC’s Najaf Ashraf Base in the Bemo mountains. During the incident, 16 people were arrested, and three IRGC members were killed.
Following their arrest, they were transferred to a security detention center in Tehran, where they were subjected to torture for months without access to legal counsel or family visits. At least 11 of these individuals were sentenced to death by the Tehran Revolutionary Court on charges including “Moharebeh (enmity against God) through Baghy (armed rebellion)” and “possession of military weapons.”
On June 10, 2025, Mizan News Agency reported the execution of nine of these prisoners without disclosing their identities or the location of their execution.
A former cellmate of the two prisoners told the KHRN: “Mohyedin Abdullahi (35) and Hossein Palani Jafi(52) were held in solitary confinement in Ward 209 of the Ministry of Intelligence at Evin Prison for about a year after their arrest, where they were subjected to severe physical and psychological torture. During this period, they were denied access to a lawyer and family visits before being transferred to Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj. Four years after their arrest and sentencing, they were transferred from Rajai Shahr Prison to Kermanshah Central Prison.”
