Iranian border guards opened fire on a group of kolbars in the Nowsud border region of Kermanshah province on 4 July, resulting in severe injuries to kolbar Hemin Mahmoudi.
Mahmoudi, a resident of Kani Rash village in Salas-e Babajani, Kermanshah province, sustained injuries to his eye and shoulder during the incident. He has since been transported to a medical centre in Tehran for treatment.
Statistics compiled by the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) show that at least nine kolbars were injured and two lost their lives as a result of Iranian border guards opening fire on kolbars in June.
Among the injured individuals, eight sustained gunshot wounds inflicted by the border guards, while one kolbar fell from a significant height while attempting to evade the pursuing forces.
