On Saturday, Nov 21, a Kurdish civilian named Aziz Ronma died as a result of a mine explosion in one of the border areas of Oshnavieh, West Azerbaijan Province, a local source told the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).
The 42-year-old resident of the village of “Poleh” in Oshnoyeh lost his life due to sustaining serious injuries in a landmine explosion while shepherding livestock in the border area of “Hawareh Isak.
Earlier on November 17, a civilian from the village of Dashteh in Sardasht, Ahmad Mamandi, was also seriously injured by a landmine explosion while shepherding near an abandoned base in the village of Parestan. He died after being taken to a hospital in Orumiyeh due to the severity of his injuries.
According to statistics compiled by KHRN, a mine explosion in October left two Kolbars amputated, two members of the demining centre injured and one civilian killed.
