A landmine explosion severely injured an employee of Iran’s demining department in the border areas of Qasr-e-Shirin, Kermanshah province, on 10 April.
The civilian, whose identity is not known yet, suffered severe injuries on his hands and face.
He was transferred to a medical centre in Kermanshah for treatment.
Every year, dozens of civilians in Iran’s border areas, especially in the provinces of West Azerbaijan, Kurdistan, Kermanshah, and Ilam, lose their lives or body parts as a result of the explosion of landmines left over from the Iran-Iraq war or the military offensive of the Islamic Republic on Kurdistan region during the 1980s.
