Four Kurdish civilians of Sanandaj were each sentenced to one year in prison by the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj on October 23. The court charged Yasin Karimi, Hemen Mohammadi, Yadegar Jafari and Pouria Naseri with “propaganda against the state in favour of one of the Kurdish opposition parties.”
The four civilians were arrested on July 13 2019, the anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Abdul Rahman Qasemloo, the then secretary-general of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran –KDPI-, for “wearing Kurdish clothes” by Sanandaj Intelligence Office.
Following their interrogation, they were transferred to the Ministry of Intelligence Detention Centre in Sanandaj who were eventually released on a bail on July 16 until their trial.
