The Enforcement of Judgments Office in Iran’s northwestern Piranshahr, West Azerbaijan province, has imprisoned three Kurdish civilians to serve their sentences in Naqadeh Prison on 27 February.
Kurdish civilians Khezr Ghaderi-Azar, Shafi Mohammadnezhad, and Esmaeil Mohammadpour presented themselves at the Piranshahr courthouse on the same day to serve their five-year prison sentences.
In February 2021, the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Piranshahr had charged them with “acting against national security” through “membership in the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (KDPI)”.
Security forces had arrested Ghaderi-Azar and Mohammadnezhad on 9 November 2020 and Mohammadpour on 25 November 2020 in Piranshahr.
They were released on bail after about a month of interrogation in the detention facility of the Ministry of Intelligence in Orumiyeh, West Azerbaijan province.
