The Islamic Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj, Kurdistan province, has sentenced seven members of the ‘Zhianaway Kurdistan’ campaign to a total of 14 years in prison.
On 19 May, the activists named Marzieh Moradveisi, Ataollah Rezababi, Sirvan Abdollahi, Fardin Rahimi, Mehdi Seifi, Ali Allahveisi, and Ghaneh Khateri were officially informed of the ruling.
According to the verdict, Rezababi’s two-year prison sentence was suspended.
The last court hearing of these seven civil activists was held on 14 March at Branch 1 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj, presided over by Judge Saeidi.
The court had charged them with “propaganda against the state” and “acting against national security” through cooperation with one of the Kurdish Islamic opposition parties.
Security forces detained these individuals in Sanandaj in May 2021. They were then released on bail after the end of their interrogation period.
