A political prisoner detained in Ward 12 of Orumiyeh Central Prison was transferred to solitary confinement on the orders of prison authorities for unknown reasons.
“On Sunday, October 14, Mustafa Davoodi, a Kurdish political prisoner detained in ward 12 (section dedicated to political prisoners) in Orumiyeh Prison, was transferred to solitary confinement for unknown reasons,” an informed source told Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).
“This political prisoner has been denied the right to call and visit his family and no information has been received on the fate of him.”, the source added.
The detainee was also transferred to solitary confinement cell for several days as a punishment for an incident on May 9, 2017 when an ordinary crimes prisoner detained in the same ward insulted and confronted him. Prison authorities enforced this punishment although the concerned detainee was innocent in this accident.
Mustafa Davoodi, a political prisoner from Mahabad, was arrested in 2009 and sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment by the Revolutionary Court of Mahabad on charges of membership in the Kurdistan Free Alliance. This political prisoner has already served 8 years and 8 months in prisons in Mahabad and Orumiyeh.
