Kurdish political prisoner “Mohammad Mirzaei” was transferred from the Orumiyeh Central Prison to the Maku prison in his home town of Orumiyeh on Thursday, March 05.
Mohammad Mirzaei had been a member of one of the Kurdish opposition parties for three years but he had returned to Maku two years ago after receiving a Letter of Immunity from security agencies in Iran. However, he was arrested by The Islamic Revolutionary Gaurd Corps (IRGC) of Maku in October 2018. He was interrogated under harsh conditions for 65 days but he was eventually released on a bail of 500 million tomans. Mirzaei was again arrested in Maku in June 2018 and transferred to Orumiyeh Central Prison.
In late July of the same year, he was sentenced to five years of imprisonment by Branch 2 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court for “collusion against national security” and “membership in an opposition group”. His 5 years imprisonment sentence would be enforceable per Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code regarding “Aggregation of Fines”.
