Kurdish civilian Abdolghani Darvishi has been released on bail, after being imprisoned for nine month in Orumiyeh Central Prison, sources told the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).


Darvishi, who comes from Orumiyeh, was arrested on 11 May 2020 in Orumiyeh and was imprisoned in Orumiyeh Central Prison. He was released on a bail of one billion Iranian Tomans – nearly 39,500 USD.
Two days after his arrest, Darvishi had been taken to Evin Detention Centre 209 in Tehran. After a month of interrogation there, he was transferred to the detention centre of the intelligence office of Orumiyeh, where he was interrogated for four months for “collaboration with a Kurdish opposition party”.


On 20 October, the Kurdish civilian was transferred from the detention centre of the intelligence office to the security ward of Orumiyeh Central Prison. He committed suicide by partially cutting his two wrists for being kept for a long time in solitary confinement. After that he was transferred to the ward for political prisoners.
