Prisoner Shamsaddin Tatari who was sentenced to the death penalty has lost his life on 12 June in the infirmary of Orumiyeh Central Prison as a result of a delay in his transfer to hospital, sources told the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).

Shamsaddin Tatari was a 55-year-old civilian from Salmas county, West Azerbaijan province. He was imprisoned in Orumiyeh for the past two years on drug charges.

The prisoner suffered from a heart problem at noon on 12 June, but prison authorities refused to send him immediately to a hospital outside the prison.
