Iran has executed three prisoners named Sattar Arghandeh, Khosrow Tarek, and Kamal Bayanirad in Ilam Central Prison on 8 June.

Arghandeh, 45, had been arrested about 18 years ago on charges of “premeditated murder”. He was released on bail two years ago after a court battle and the lack of sufficient evidence against him.

He was arrested again a few months later and sentenced to “retribution in kind” (qisas).

Arghandeh was a father of two from the town of Maleshkahi in Ilam province, western Iran.

Prisoners Tarek, from Malekshahi, and Bayanirad, who comes from Ilam, were also arrested in the past few years on charges of “premeditated murder” and sentenced to “retribution in kind” (qisas).
