Hadi Tanumand, a labour activist and a member of the Coordination Committee for the Creation of Labours’ Union, was sent to Bukan prison to serve his three-and-a-half-year imprisonment sentence.
Tanoumand was arrested in June 2013 during the annual general meeting of the Coordination Committee to help establish labour unions in Karaj along with four other members of the committee. He was transferred to Rajai Shahr Prison but he was later released on bail.
He was arrested on November 24, 2013, again along with 5 other labour activists including Mohammad Karimi, Jamal Minashiri, Ebrahim Mustafa Pour, Qassem Mustafa Pour and Hassan Rasulnezhad in Bukan. He was released on a bail of 30 million tomans after 43 days.
The hearing on the charges against the above 6 labour activists from Bukan was held at branch 2 of the Mahabad Revolutionary Court in November 2013. Hadi Tanumand was sentenced to three and a half years in prison on charges of “membership of the Coordination Committee for the Creation of Labours’ Union” and “propaganda against the state”. The verdict was upheld by the Oromiyeh Court of Appeal shortly afterwards.
