Prisoners in Orumiyeh Central Prison have yesterday set blankets on fire and fought prison officers after prison authorities took three prisoners sentenced to the death penalty to solitary confinement for execution.

After prisoners Oruj Ali Asl-Hosseini, Babak Aslani, and Meysam (last name unknown) were transferred to solitary confinement, some inmates gathered in the ward’s corridor and engaged in a fight with prison guards, a source in Orumiyeh told the KHRN.

Prison authorities then took higher security measures, added the source.

The three prisoners were sentenced to “retribution in kind” (qisas) for “premeditated murder”.
