Arrest
Arya Maroufi, a Kurdish citizen from the village of Ney in Marivan, Kurdistan Province, was arrested by security forces at his family home in the village in the early hours of 6 August 2026.
Security forces surrounded the village with several military vehicles and raided the homes of several residents, arresting Maroufi and at least five other Kurdish citizens.
Maroufi was arrested without a warrant and has since been denied access to legal representation and family visits.
Despite his family’s repeated enquiries about his situation, the security and judicial authorities have refused to provide any information about his status.
Current Status
Maroufi is being held at the Ministry of Intelligence detention facility in Marivan.
