Asti Mohammadi, a 67-year-old Kurdish woman from Bukan, West Azerbaijan Province, is the mother of three children, two of whom are Kurdish political activists based outside Iran.

Arrest

Mohammadi was arrested on the night of 11 May 2026 during a raid on her family home in Bukan by Ministry of Intelligence agents.

The agents did not present a warrant and confiscated some of her personal belongings, including a photo album, a mobile phone and several books.

Defendant’s Rights

She was arrested without a warrant and was denied family visits and access to legal representation during her detention.

Current Status

Mohammadi was released from Orumiyeh Central Prison on 31 May 2026.
