Arrest
Farzad Hamidi, a Kurdish civilian from Kamyaran, Kurdistan Province, was arrested by Ministry of Intelligence forces in the city on 25 January 2025.
His arrest was reportedly linked to strikes and protests in response to the death sentences handed down to Kurdish political prisoners Pakhshan Azizi and Verisheh (Wirishe) Moradi.
Defendant’s Rights
He was arrested without a warrant and was denied family visits and access to legal representation during his detention.
Current Status
Hamidi was transferred to Sanandaj Central Prison in Kurdistan Province after spending several weeks in the Ministry of Intelligence detention facility in the city, and was provisionally released on bail on 24 February 2025.
