Arrest
Fereydoun Soltani, a Kurdish civilian from Takab, West Azerbaijan Province, was arrested by the Ministry of Intelligence on 22 November 2024 and taken to the Ministry’s detention centre in the city.
Two days later, he was transferred to the Ministry of Intelligence detention centre in Orumiyeh, West Azerbaijan Province.
Defendant’s Rights
He was arrested without a warrant and was denied family visits and access to legal representation during his detention.
Current Status
On 4 December 2024, Soltani was provisionally released on bail of four billion rials (nearly 5,500 USD).
Additional Information
A few days prior to his arrest, Soltani released a video stating that he had been summoned twice by telephone by the Ministry of Intelligence but had refused to appear before the security agency.
