Ghaleb Hosseini, a prominent Kurdish labour activist from Sanandaj, Kurdistan Province, and a member of the Coordination Committee to Form Workers’ Organisations, has faced repeated summons and arrests by security forces in recent years.

Arrest

Hosseini was arrested by security forces in Sanandaj on 9 October 2024 and taken to the Ministry of Intelligence detention centre in the city.

Defendant’s Rights

He was denied family visits and access to legal representation during his detention.

Current Status

In late October, Hosseini was moved from the Ministry of Intelligence detention centre to Sanandaj Central Prison. On 28 October, he was provisionally released on bail of 5 billion rials (nearly 7,000 USD).
