Arrest

Hamid Azizi, a PhD holder in Communication and Media Studies from Allameh Tabataba’i University and a teacher in the villages of Palangan and Gazer Khani in Kamyaran, Kurdistan Province, was arrested on 3 December 2024 after being summoned to the security office of the Ministry of Education in the city.

Defendant’s Rights

He was arrested without a warrant and has since been denied family visits and access to legal representation.

Despite his family’s repeated attempts to obtain information about his fate, security and judicial authorities have refused to provide any clarification regarding his situation.

Current Status

Azizi is being held in the Ministry of Intelligence detention centre in Sanandaj, Kurdistan Province.
