Arrest

Jalal Farrokhi, a Kurdish civilian from the village of Shahrak-e Ziveh in the Margavar region of Orumiyeh, West Azerbaijan Province, was arrested by Ministry of Intelligence agents on 26 May 2025, along with his niece, Rozhin Khoran.

Farrokhi had previously been detained by security forces during the Newroz celebrations in Orumiyeh, along with his two nieces, Rozhin and Rana Khoran.

Defendant’s Rights

He was arrested without a warrant and has since been denied family visits and access to legal representation.

Despite his family’s repeated attempts to obtain information about his fate, security and judicial authorities have refused to provide any clarification regarding his situation.

Current Status

Farrokhi is being held in the Ministry of Intelligence detention centre in Orumiyeh.
