Jalil Mohammadi, a Kurdish labour activist from Sanandaj, Kurdistan Province, has been repeatedly summoned and detained by security forces in recent years.
Arrest
Mohammadi was arrested by Ministry of Intelligence agents at his home in Sanandaj on 23 January 2025.
His arrest was reportedly linked to strikes and protests in response to the death sentences handed down to Kurdish political prisoners Pakhshan Azizi and Verisheh (Wirishe) Moradi.
Defendant’s Rights
He was arrested without a warrant and has since been denied family visits and access to legal representation.
Despite his family’s repeated attempts to obtain information about his fate, security and judicial authorities have refused to provide any clarification regarding his situation.
Current Status
Mohammadi is being held in the Ministry of Intelligence detention centre in Sanandaj, Kurdistan Province.
