Jasim Haseli is an athlete and professional Muay Thai and kickboxing champion from Marivan, Kurdistan Province.

Arrest

Haseli was arrested on 30 August 2024 after being summoned by the Intelligence Organisation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and taken to the organisation’s Shahramfar detention facility in Sanandaj, Kurdistan Province.

Earlier, on 25 June 2024, he was also summoned to the IRGC’s Intelligence Organisation, where he was interrogated and tortured for several hours.

Defendant’s Rights

During his detention, he was denied family visits and access to legal representation.

Current Status

On 26 October 2024, Haseli was provisionally released from Marivan prison on bail.
