Kajal Rahmani, a civil rights activist from Kamyaran, Kurdistan Province, is a member of a dadkhah family (a Persian term used for victims’ relatives and survivors seeking truth and justice).
In recent years, she has been repeatedly summoned and interrogated by the Ministry of Intelligence in Kamyaran and Sanandaj.
Rahmani, who worked as a nurse at Sina Hospital in Kamyaran, was dismissed from her job in autumn 2019 following pressure from the Ministry of Intelligence.
Arrest
Rahmani was arrested on 6 June 2026 after Ministry of Intelligence forces raided her family home in Kamyaran.
Defendant’s Rights
She was arrested without a warrant and has since been denied access to legal representation and family visits.
Despite repeated efforts by her family to obtain information about her fate, security and judicial authorities have refused to provide any explanation regarding her situation.
Current Status
Rahmani is being held in solitary confinement at the Juvenile Detention Centre of Sanandaj.
Additional Information
Isa Feyzi and Danyal Rahmani, her husband and brother, were also arrested by Ministry of Intelligence forces at the same time as her arrest.
Her brother, Jamal Rahmani, a member of the leadership council of the Democratic and Free Society of East Kurdistan (KODAR), was killed by Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forces in 2018. In recent years, his family have repeatedly contacted security agencies in Kamyaran and Sanandaj to seek the return of his body or information about his burial place, but have not received any response.
