Arrest

Kamal Masoudi, a Kurdish civil rights activist from Mahabad, West Azerbaijan Province, was arrested by the Ministry of Intelligence forces in the city on 15 December 2024.

Defendant’s Rights

He was arrested without a warrant and was denied family visits and access to legal representation during his detention.

Current Status

Masoudi was transferred from the Ministry of Intelligence detention centre in Orumiyeh, West Azerbaijan Province, to Mahabad Prison on 28 January 2025, and was provisionally released on bail of 20 billion rials (nearly 22,000 USD) on 30 January 2025.
