Arrest

Kardo Alidad, a Kurdish civil rights activist from Marivan, Kurdistan Province, was arrested by Ministry of Intelligence agents at his workplace in the city on 22 January 2025, and was taken to the Ministry’s detention facility in Sanandaj, Kurdistan Province.

Defendant’s Rights

He was arrested without a warrant and has since been denied family visits and access to legal representation.

Current Status

After several weeks in detention, Alidad was transferred from the the Ministry of Intelligence detention centre in Sanandaj to the city prison, and released on bail of eight billion rials (nearly 9,000 USD) on 1 March 2025.
