Mohammad-Mirza Rahmani, a Kurdish Sunni cleric from Kamyaran, Kurdistan Province, was previously arrested on 22 December 2021 and detained for three weeks for attending and speaking at the memorial service for Heidar Ghorbani, a Kurdish political prisoner executed by the Iranian authorities.

Arrest

Rahmani was arrested during a raid by the Intelligence Organisation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on his home in the village of Tobrehriz in Kamyaran on 26 February 2025.

Defendant’s Rights

He was arrested without a warrant and has since been denied family visits and access to legal representation.

Despite his family’s repeated attempts to obtain information about his fate, security and judicial authorities have refused to provide any clarification regarding his situation.

Current Status

Rahmani is being held in the Shahramfar detention centre of IRGC’s Intelligence Organisation in Sanandaj, Kurdistan Province.
