Arrest 

Saadoun Sharifi, a Kurdish civilian from the village of Gard Aseh in Piranshahr, West Azerbaijan Province, was arrested on 4 September 2024 following a raid by agents of the Ministry of Intelligence of the Islamic Republic on his family home and was taken to the Ministry’s detention facility in Orumiyeh, West Azerbaijan Province.

Defendant’s Rights 

He was denied the right to contact his family and to have access to a lawyer during his detention.

Current Status 

In late October, Sharifi was moved from the Ministry of Intelligence detention centre in Orumiyeh to Naqadeh Prison and provisionally released on bail of 20 billion rials (nearly 30,000 USD) on 29 October.
