Arrest

Sabah Bivareh, a Kurdish citizen from the village of Kalehkin in Piranshahr, West Azerbaijan Province, was arrested by security forces at his family home in the village on 14 May 2026 and was transferred to the Ministry of Intelligence detention facility in Orumiyeh, West Azerbaijan Province.

Defendant’s Rights

He was arrested without a warrant and was denied access to legal representation and family visits during his detention.

Current Status

Bivareh was transferred from the Ministry of Intelligence detention facility in Orumiyeh to Naqadeh Prison in late June 2026 and was temporarily released from the prison on 27 June 2026 on bail of 20 billion rials.
