Arrest
Sina Rezaei, a shopkeeper from Sanandaj, Kurdistan Province, was arrested by Ministry of Intelligence forces in the city on 22 January 2025 for taking part in a general strike to protest against the death sentences handed down to Kurdish political prisoners Pakhshan Azizi and Verisheh (Wirishe) Moradi.
Defendant’s Rights
He was arrested without a warrant and was denied family visits and access to legal representation during his detention.
Current Status
After several days in detention, Rezaei was transferred from the Ministry of Intelligence detention centre in Sanandaj to the city prison and later released on bail.
