Arrest

Zahed Shahabi, a Kurdish civilian from Saqqez, Kurdistan Province, was arrested on 24 March 2025 following a raid by Ministry of Intelligence agents on the Rah-e Azadi (Path of Freedom) religious lodge in the city.

During the operation, the agents reportedly behaved disrespectfully towards those present at the site.

Defendant’s Rights

He was arrested without a warrant and was denied family visits and access to legal representation during his detention.

Current Status

After initial interrogation, Shahabi was transferred to Saqqez Prison and later provisionally released on bail on 28 May 2025.
