A Kurdish political prisoner named Khadijeh Mehdipour was sent on temporary leave for medical purposes after the approval of the prison officials and the city court in Ilam, western Iran, on 28 June.
Reportedly, the political prisoner was sent on leave for four days to treat digestive discomfort and tooth infection.
The Intelligence Organisation of the IRGC arrested Mehdipour in Ilam on 10 October 2021.
After two days of interrogation by this military-security organisation, she was transferred to the central prison of the city.
A few weeks later, Branch 2 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Ilam, headed by Judge Parvaneh, sentenced her to 20 months in prison.
The court charged her with “propaganda against the state”, “insulting the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran”, and “insulting the [Supreme] leadership”.
In addition, on 10 February, Mehdipour was beaten by three prisoners of ordinary crimes in Iran’s western Ilam province.
Prison officials had incited these prisoners to attack Mehdipour on the pretext that she “insulted” the leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Qassem Soleimani, the former commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Force.
At that time, the public relations department of the Ilam Prisons Organisation issued a statement and confirmed the incident.
She was previously arrested by security forces on 10 October 2020 and was later sentenced to pay a fine in exchange for imprisonment.
