Kurdish civilian Reza Ebrahimi has been temporarily released today from Orumiyeh Central Prison on a bail of 500 million Iranian Tomans – nearly 20,000 USD – after four and a half months of detention.

On 22 May, security forces arrested Ebrahimi and another civilian named Towfiq Rad in Bukan, West Azerbaijan province.

They took the two civilians to the detention centre of the intelligence ministry in Orumiyeh, West Azerbaijan province.

On 6 July, after 45 days of interrogation, the two civilians were transferred to the city prison.

The civilians are accused of “membership in Salafi groups”.

Towfiq Rad is still being held in Orumiyeh Central Prison.
